Lost Generation
Die Aidspandemie in Südafrika wird in der nördlichen Hemisphäre kaum wahrgenommen. Jeder fünfte Mensch ist dort HIV positiv und bis jetzt haben bereits drei Millionen Kinder ihre Eltern durch AIDS verloren. Im Zentrum des Films stehen zwei ‚Kinderfamilien’. Familien, in denen die älteren Geschwister durch den Aidstod der Eltern gezwungen sind, die emotionale und materielle Verantwortung für sich und ihre jüngeren Geschwister zu übernehmen.
The northern hemisphere seems virtually oblivious to the AIDS epidemic raging in South Africa, where one out of every five people are HIV positive and three million children have been orphaned by AIDS. The film focuses on two child-headed households, i.e., families where the parents' death due to AIDS has forced older children to assume responsibility for their own and their younger siblings’ physical and emotional welfare.
