All courses are open to applicants from abroad if they have the necessary qualifications. The admission requirements and application process apply accordingly.
Written application documents and work samples must be submitted in German.
Foreign school and university certificates must be submitted as original documents or copies that have been legally certified. If certificates are not written in German or English, a legally certified translation must be included as an original document or a copy that has been legally certified.
Information on the acceptance of foreign educational qualifications as evidence of eligibility for admission onto a German university/academy course can be found on the website www.anabin.de. In addition, please feel free to contact the HFF International Office if you have any questions concerning the equivalence of foreign school and university certificates.
If an applicant’s school leaving certificate was not obtained in Germany or at a German school abroad, the applicant must include one of the following documents with his/her application documents as evidence of a sufficient command of the German language:
1. the successfully passed Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerber (German Language University Entrance Exam for Foreign Students), level DSH -2
2. a TestDaF certificate (Test of German as a Foreign Language), level TDN 4 in all four examination sections
3. the Zeugnis der Prüfung der Feststellung der Eignung ausländischer Studienbewerber für die Aufnahme eines Studiums an Hochschulen in Deutschland (Feststellungsprüfung) (Certificate of the Examination to Establish the Suitability of Foreign Applicants for Admission onto a Course at Universities in Germany (Assessment Test))
4. the Große Deutsche Sprachdiplom (Major German Language Diploma) from the Goethe Institute
5. the Kleine Deutsche Sprachdiplom (Minor German Language Diploma) from the Goethe Institute
6. the Deutsche Sprachdiplom II (DSD II) (German Language Diploma II) of the Kultusministerkonferenz (Conference of the German Ministers for Education and Cultural Affairs)
7. the Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung (ZOP) (Central Upper Level Examination) of the Goethe Institute
8. the Deutsche Sprachprüfung II (German Language Examination II) from the Sprachen- und Dolmetscher-Instituts München (Munich Language and Interpretation Institute)
Furthermore, applicants are not required to submit evidence of a sufficient command of the German language if they are able to submit a foreign certificate that is listed at:

Chinese, Mongolian and Vietnamese applicants will only be considered for the application process if they are able to submit a reference/certificate (ORIGINAL DOCUMENT!) confirming the authenticity of their academic certificates from the respective Academic Evaluation Centre in their native country. The HFF is unable to award scholarships.
Applications that require the payment of a cash on delivery charge or customs duty upon receipt will not be accepted by the University.
