Dear applicants, dear students, dear friends of the HFF and dear interested readers!
I am delighted to welcome to you the website of the “Konrad Wolf” Potsdam-Babelsberg Film and Television University.
Since the hour of birth of film over 100 years ago, moving images have developed into the most important cultural form of the present day and can be depicted and distributed in a wide variety of ways, from the expression of free artistic creativity through to an industrial product and from a unique cinematic piece for the cinema and television right through to new online presentation opportunities. With its diversified spectrum of specialised courses and an outstanding range of technological equipment, the HFF prepares its students for a successful future in the multitude of occupational areas available in the modern media industry.
Here at the HFF, we are proud of the long and traditional history of our Academy, a dynamic and future-oriented educational institution that always was and still always is open to new developments and approaches. We consider staying in tune with the latest cutting-edge advances to be just as important as a constant intensive exchange of knowledge, which we support by encouraging our students to work together on interdisciplinary group projects and providing them with personal contact with our renowned teaching staff, who boast an abundance of practical experience. Our staff enjoys passing on their abilities in and passion for film in all of its expressive forms and are extremely dedicated to their work. We also provide our students and graduates with a wide range of opportunities to participate in the world of film and television thanks to our multitude of cooperations with international universities and private-sector companies. On top of this, the special location of the HFF at the core of the film city and media location of Babelsberg, Germany, provides a fruitful international environment.
The top-quality education offered by the HFF is not only practice-oriented but also has close ties to the world of research, with a special focus on the connection between art and science. Our aim is to develop creative media professionals who are characterised by their individual artistic and specialist profiles and their social abilities and are aware of their special responsibility when it comes to dealing with the medium of film and its effect. 95% of students who matriculate at the HFF go on to complete their degrees and successfully establish themselves in the artistic and scientific media market. In fact, many of our graduates have already made a name for themselves in the international film world.
This greeting only provides a brief insight into the HFF. I hope that you will enjoy taking an in-depth look at our website and discovering the HFF in detail. I would also like to invite you to come and experience the Academy ‘live’ at our Open Day. This event takes place every November and offers you the chance to make the most of the general student advice service or specialist individual consultations with professors that are provided on site. You can arrange consultation times for the Open Day throughout the entire academic year.
Welcome to our website!
Best regards,
Prof. Dr. Dieter Wiedemann
