Artistic Research deals with the evolutionary process of an artwork, and, located on the intersection between art and science, develops new methods for research and presentation of the relationship between individual and society. According to the HFF's educational and research profile, artistic research at the HFF, as fostered and supported by the Institute since its establishment in 2008, focuses on time-based media. The areas of research cover the complete field of time-based media - from the digitized image, through presentations of space and sound, authentication strategies for media of the future, all the way to researching storytelling in film, and poetic theory on film artists and styles. The Institute also deals with respective projects of the "100 Years Babelsberg" anniversary.
