This Bachelor’s of Fine Arts course in Scenography provides students with basic image creation skills with regard to scenography in cinematic practise.
This includes the design and implementation of film sets, an understanding of teamwork and a division of labour in production and interdisciplinary film experience. The course places particular importance on initial VFX knowledge and being able to work with modern digital technologies.
The course-specific lessons teach the students the fundamentals of scenography and basic knowledge in the field of costing and logistics. The course also involves elements of training the students’ creative vision and understanding within the context of figures and space. The presentation and documentation of the results of the students’ work form part of the teaching.
The theoretical aspect of this course is provided by dramaturgical topics and those involving art and media theory. These form the basis of interdisciplinary group work between the different branches of study at the University.
The course aims to further the development of the students’ own creative signatures, future-oriented solutions and socially responsible thinking.
It qualifies graduates for employment in art departments for television, film, theatre or new media productions.
The standard duration of this course is 6 semesters.
The degree Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) will be awarded upon successful completion of this course.
Following this Bachelor’s course, the HFF will be offering a consecutive Master’s course in Production Design with a duration of four semesters.
